JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Campbell County Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and surrounding churches, students, and countless others held the 14th annual Campbell County Fields of Faith on John T. Reynolds field Wednesday night. The event started at 6:35pm and opened with Campbell County High School sophomore Lynlee inviting folks to the next steps group, located at the Campbell County Christian Learning Center. Following Lynlee, CCHS senior Luke Browning announced the campus ministry times for high school students in Campbell County. Jellico High meets at 7:30am on Thursdays and Campbell County High meets at 7:35am on Wednesdays. Next up was Maggie Herrin inviting members of the audience to follow “Campbell County Fields of Faith” on Facebook and on Instagram and Twitter at “@cc_fof”.

Associate Pastor of New Horizon Baptist Church, Matthew Ferri, stepped on stage to thank everyone who donated items to help the victims of Hurricane Helene and prayed over all of the items that are being sent out. Ferri states that this is “realistically the most important thing about what we are going to accomplish tonight aside from Jesus Christ himself.”

FCA Sponsor Brian Miracle welcomed everyone to Fields of Faith and Gavin Owens (above) led everyone into prayer and read scripture as the worship team began to play. Students began to gather at the stage for a time of worship.

Students flock the the stage as the band begins to perform.

Following the music, CCHS Senior Brady Hatmaker gave his powerful and inspirational testimony about his walk with Christ.

The FCA Students performed a skit set to the song, ” Eye of the Storm.”

At 7:25pm Kennedy Dykes took the stage to introduce her father and the keynote speakers for the night, Jimmy Dykes. Kennedy is a freshman and a cheerleader at the University of Tennessee.

Jimmy Dykes brought a message to students about being able to hear God’s voice. Dykes said, “If the question is, ‘Who am I?’ and ‘What does God say that I am?’ I think it’s really important to hear God’s voice. And that’s a real challenge today.” He goes on to say, “Not everything that gets our attention deserves out attention. We have to be very intentional on hearing God’s voice.” Dykes ended his message with John 14:6, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me”. Jimmy Dykes is the former head women’s basketball coach at the University of Arkansas and current sportscaster for ESPN and SEC Network.

ESPN’s Jimmy Dykes invites students to come to the field as WLAF’s Clayton Carroll plays piano.

An invitation was given to students to come to the alter, which in this case was the field, and to meet with a counselor to learn more about having a relationship with Jesus. It is unknown the amount of souls that was saved Wednesday night, but what is known is that God was working in many student’s lives. You can watch the event on demand HERE and the program will re-air on WLAF-TV 1089 Thursday and Friday at 1pm. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED 10/10/2024 – 6AM)
