East End School is closing in on its 90th year

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- What a difference 50 years makes. This week on this Throwback Thursday is a look at East Lafollette Elementary School and part of the play ground area back in 1976.

The other image made this week shows the same area now 50 years later. Everything in the old image was removed 15 years ago. The demo started in February 2011, and by May 2011, the property was a parking lot.

The original school was built in 1938, and over the years, several additions were added. Some of those additions still stand on the property today in what is now called the Homer Rutherford Learning Academy. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-08/20/2026-6AM)
