JELLICO, TN (WLAF)- Teachers make a difference in their students’ lives every day. For many students, having a teacher who cares and goes that extra mile can be the difference in a successful education and graduation. We’ve all had that teacher who inspired us or helped in some way. That’s why WLAF and Eagle Tire Pros salute all of our hard-working educators with a weekly feature.

This week’s featured teacher is Dusty Lambdin. She teaches Health Sciences in the Career and Technical Education department at Jellico High School. She is in her 12th year as an educator and her 32nd year in the nursing field.

Jellico High School’s Dusty Lambdin is Eagle Tire Pros Teacher of the Week.

Lambdin is married and has two sons, Braden and Luke. She is a Jellico native and is a 1990 graduate of Jellico High School.

When she’s not teaching and in her spare time Lambdin said she “loves being outdoors, hiking and going for walks.”

She didn’t become an educator right away and in fact worked as a registered nurse for years before starting her teaching career, but the two go hand in hand.

“I teach at Jellico High School in the CTE department and teach Health Sciences. Before becoming a teacher, I worked as an RN. This is my 32nd year of nursing. I started as a CAN (certified nurse’s aid), then become an LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) before going on to achieve my RN (Registered Nurse) license,” Lambdin said.

She began teaching in January of 2007 and gives “credit to becoming a teacher to Mrs. Dora Wilcox.”

“She was teaching a clinical class at the nursing home I was working for at the time. I loved her personality, the respect her students gave her and the impact she made on them,” Lambdin said.

Her favorite part of teaching is” seeing her students graduate with a certification.”

Another favorite is where she works and her co-workers.

“JHS is a family environment and I’m thankful to be a part of it,” Lambdin said.
