LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- John Heatherly with Cumberland Equipment Rentals and Chris Williams of Cornwall Quality Tools have organized a donation drive for flood relief victims in Northeast Tennessee. They are working with the Tennessee Highway Patrol to have the donations delivered on Monday, October 7th. Donations are being accepted through Saturday at 5pm and can be dropped off at Cumberland Equipment Rentals at 1218 Jacksboro Pike, across from the old IGA in LaFollette.
After seeing so many families and communities affected by the devastating floods, Cumberland Equipment Rentals and Cornwall Quality Tools are asking the community to come together to help those in need.
Williams, who owns a tool truck business called Cornwell Quality Tools, said the catastrophe was weighing on his heart and mind on Saturday and he reached out to John Heatherly who owns Cumberland Equipment Rentals. The two decided to come together to organize the drive and the donation page, and the drive was set up on Sunday.
“I felt like it was something that I had to do. We all have connections, and we all have ways to help, and I just felt like we needed to step up for this and John said he wanted to get something done,” Williams said.
Heatherly’s mother is Tennessee Highway Patrol Captain Stacey Heatherly. She is coordinating the delivery, and the THP will provide an escort for the delivery truck, according to Williams.
He said the response has been phenomenal and that organizers want to thank all those who have donated and continue to donate to this important cause.
“We have had customers call us and really step up for this, buying and donating pallets of water, and so many other items. We appreciate all the donors so much,” Williams said.
If anyone has any questions about the donation drive, please contact Williams at 423-377-5544 or Heatherly at 423-201-9013.
