Campbell completes the season sweep of Karns 59-51

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Campbell County welcomed the Karns Beavers to Brown Gym on Friday night, and they welcomed their guests with a swift start.

The Orange-and-Blue blitzed out to a 6-0 lead, but then the Beavers struck back to take the lead 10-8 at the end of the first.

Campbell jumped back in front by a score of 22-21 at halftime.

After the halftime break, the Cougars took control the game. The Orange-and-Blue outscored Karns 37-30 in the second half, to grab a 59-51 victory.

Gavin Cox, your Mills Door and More Player of the Game finished with 18 points, 14 of which came in the second half. Second in scoring was Luke Browning with a solid 14 points. Jake Hatmaker had one of his best shooting nights of the season, scoring 11. Will Croley scored six points. Keegan Nelson totaled five, and Gavin Owens rounded out the scoring column with four points.

The Cougars are now 11 and 7 overall on the year and 3 and 2 in District 3-AAAA, Region 2-AAAA play.  

Up next for the Cougars is the “get-back” game. Campbell travels to Central to seek revenge for their 52-51 heartbreaking loss earlier in the season. The Cougars tip at 7:30 Tuesday from Fountain City.
