CARYVILLE, TN. (WLAF)- The Caryville Board of Mayor and Aldermen met in a special called meeting Thursday night with three items on the agenda.

The first item on the agenda was a discussion of the legal agreement with the Town Attorney Adam Bullock. The agreement between the board and Bullock expired on Dec. 31. Bullock has continued to work for the town since the agreement expired. The last agreement between Bullock and the town did not require him to attend every board meeting, just the meetings where he was needed. Mayor David Chambers shared with the board that he had spoken with MTAS and asked if it was normal for a town the size of Caryville to have their attorney present at all monthly meetings. The response from MTAS was that it is normal for the attorney to attend all monthly meetings. After a brief discussion it was decided by the board that they would like to discuss Bullock’s agreement in an executive session to be held after the next monthly meeting.

The next item on the agenda was phase two of the Caryville Cares Playground. The next phase will be constructed on the opposite side of the street from the playground. The board would like to utilize the area for a pickleball court, basketball court, shelter(s) and restrooms. The board has $627,000 left on the grant with the city paying $77,495. The grant is set to expire in June 2026.

The final item was approved to establish a personnel policy committee. The committee will be comprised three aldermen.(WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED 1/20/2025-6AM-PHOTO COURTESY OF WLAF’S CHARLIE HUTSON)
