JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Coach Taylor Ownbey’s Cougars held a spirited practice Wednesday afternoon on Reynolds Field in preparation for the Cherokee Chiefs. Campbell (0 & 1) hosts the Chiefs (1 & 0) in a 7:30pm kick-off on Friday.
Cherokee brings a strong running game and a stout defense into game two for both teams. The Chiefs won 34-0 at home over Pigeon Forge.
“We’re up for the challenge against a very good football team,” said Coach O. Cherokee won 33-0 a season ago at Rogersville.
Campbell came away almost injury free from last week’s season opener with Lenoir City, a 56-30 loss. Owen Blankenblicker was injured and is probable for tomorrow night’s game with Cherokee. Blankenblicker (3), suited up for Wednesday’s practice, said he was pretty sore but expects to play Friday. Blankenblicker plays linebacker and wide receiver.
