LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- Common Ground was launched in hope to add life to the downtown community of La Follette in October 2017, according to one of Common Grounds founders, Joey St. John.

Within the first four years of opening, Common Ground customers have come from all 50 states and, at last count, nine foreign countries.

“I’ve been totally amazed at the amount of people who have visited our area whether to visit family or the mountains and the lake on vacation,” said St. John.

Common Ground’s banquet hall is ideal for meetings like this Veterans Day Parade committee meeting on Thursday morning. Left to right are Gail Brown, Emma McCarty, Marvin Bolinger and Ed Housley.

Besides serving as a coffee shop, Tuesday – Saturday from 7am – 5pm, many local groups gather for Bible Study at the popular coffee shop. The banquet room rental space is frequented by those celebrating birthdays, graduations, baby showers, meetings, and more.

Common Ground is at 119 East Central Avenue, and the telephone number is 423.377.1137.

All those with Common Ground have come to appreciate their great neighbors Pyro Shows, Habitat for Humanity, Lindsay’s Carpet, Smith ACE Hardware, Lindsay’s Furniture and the many other businesses in the downtown area.

From all indications that hope continues to be fulfilled as Common Ground begins its eighth year near the corner of Central and First in the heart of La Follette. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-11/01/2024-6AM)
