LEAD SERVICE LINE INVENTORY

The Caryville-Jacksboro Utilities Commission (CJUC) is required under an EPA mandate to determine locations of lead water service lines within its service area. The CJUC is required to investigate service line materials on both the customer owned side of lines and the utility owned side of lines that were installed before July, 1988.  The meter is the point of jurisdiction at which responsibility for maintenance and repair changes from the water system to customer control—the line from meter to customer’s interior plumbing. System-owned is the portion of the service line from the main transmission line to the meter. Lead and Copper Plumbing Questionnaires were sent by mail with July billing to CJUC water customers with instructions on how to determine their service line material.

If you would like an additional copy of the questionnaire, please contact the Caryville Jacksboro Utilities Commission by telephone at 423-562-9776 or by email at cjuc@cjuc.net.
