Additional cameras across the City of LaFollette discussed
LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- On Monday afternoon at the City of LaFollette monthly workshop, Bill McDonald with Lions Club approached the LaFollette City Council about a location to have a carnival. The carnival was previously held in the parking lot behind the city hall, but since the repaving of the lot, the town has not allowed the carnival to be held at that location due to the possibility of damaging the parking surface. Mayor Cliff Jennings and members of the council suggested alternate locations to McDonald but none seemed to work for him. Jennings told McDonald “We wish we could find some other place to put you”. Jennings concluded that McDonald should check with the Town of Caryville, and see if they have space for the carnival.
Jon Finley with E.E. Hill Insurance was present to discuss the town’s heath insurance. Currently the city has Blue Cross Blue Shield, but there has been a seven percent increase. Even with the increase, Finley made a recommendation to the council that they stay with Blue Cross Blue Shield due to employee satisfaction.
City Administrator Stan Foust spoke with the council about adding some additional cameras to the city. The city can apply for grants to fund the additional cameras.
Jennings brought up the idea of the city opening a daycare, wondering if the city could legally open a daycare. City Attorney Reid Troutman told Jennings that the insurance company would say no.
The regular monthly meeting for the city has been moved from Tue., Nov. 5, election day to Tue., Nov. 12. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-10/29/2024-6AM)
