JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- The Campbell County CTE department at both Campbell County High School and Jellico High School were honored by the Campbell County Board of Education.
The upstairs court room at the county courthouse was packed on Thursday afternoon with CTE students and instructors to receive that recognition.
“February is CTE Month and we’re happy to have teachers and students from our Career and Technical Education program here tonight… Our students are learning skills to help them join the workforce and it’s a testament to their hard work and their teacher’s hard work and dedication as well,” said Director of Schools Jennifer Fields.
Campbell County CTE Director Traci Chambers went over some of the accomplishments in these departments over the past school year.
“We’ve made a lot of progress in the last few years,” Chambers said. She reported that Industry Credentials, which is a “big push from the state, were way up.”
“Last year the district had around 280 industry certifications, and this year, county-wide, there are already over a thousand, which is amazing,” Chambers said.
She explained that having industry certifications made students “job ready for certain jobs.”
Students are leaving Campbell County High School ready to walk into welding jobs, construction jobs, agriculture, culinary arts and more.
The district is also offering new classes with dual enrollment at TCAT this semester. CTE just keeps growing; CTE is the way to go,” Chambers said. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-02/14/2025-6AM)
