If you would like to carry a street banner of a Campbell County Veteran, here’s your opportunity

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- As we inch closer to the big parade, here’s a reminder, that during the 2024 Veterans’ Day parade on Saturday, November 9, at 2 pm, those veterans who are honored on the street banners will be on display and saluted.
All banners that have been displayed on the street lights poles in LaFollette will be carried in the parade by volunteers including members of the Campbell County Cougar Football team. Once the banners arrive at First Street and Central Avenue, the parade will pause to salute those veterans honored on the banners with a 21-gun salute presented by Pyro Shows of LaFollette. Immediately following the 21-gun salute, taps will play as we solemnly honor all our deceased veterans.
Recognized on the banners are Campbell County veterans who served this nation honorably from the War of 1812 to World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and the Middle East conflicts.
More volunteers are being sought to help present the banners. If you sponsored a banner or have a relative honored on a banner, please consider volunteering. Those carrying the banners will march in the parade from the parking lot of Carl Pierce Furniture along Central Avenue to the Fleet Building at Nevada Avenue. If you would like to volunteer to help carry banners, please call Emma McCarty at 423.907.3754 or Ed Housley at 423.489.2792. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-10/30/2024-6AM)
Is the parade on Friday, November 8 or Saturday, November 9? The article says Friday, November 9, and that doesn’t happen this year.
Thank you, Melissa.
