(LAFOLLETTE, TN.) WLAF- On Wednesday, Campbell County Sheriff’s Officers arrested Autumn Alexander, 42, after she was found walking away from a crash scene on U.S. 25W allegedly carrying an envelope containing $14,000 in cash.

Deputies responding to the wreck discovered Alexander had fled the scene. When located nearby, she allegedly gave conflicting stories about the origin of the cash. Further investigation revealed the money had been reported stolen by a man currently hospitalized in North Knoxville. The elderly victim confirmed the cash was taken without permission from his home. The money was recovered and logged into evidence.

Alexander, who also had an active bench warrant. She was also charged with aggravated burglary, and theft of property over $10,000.
