JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Two hundred gallons of diesel fuel along with 200-gallons of tack coat made for an afternoon inferno Thursday on the one time Key Limestone rock quarry site now used as a Rogers Group asphalt plant.

It took 10 firefighters 10 minutes to extinguish the fire.
A truck used for carrying tack coat and then laying down the coat prior to paving caught fire just before 5 pm Thursday afternoon.  Daniel Lawson, Assistant Campbell County Rural Fire Chief, said, “Rogers Group personnel were in the process of cleaning the tank when it caught fire.â€

In the end, this is all that was left.
Lawson added that 10 firefighters battled the blaze for about ten-minutes before it was totally extinguished. Â Three CCRFS units were needed on the scene as the thick black smoke could be seen for miles under a clear blue sky. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED 03/05/2020-7:30PM-PHOTOS COURTESY OF DANIEL LAWSON)
