Campbell County will get a two-week notice ahead of the temporary closure

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- The Campbell County Commission met Monday evening, approving an agreement with the Tennessee Department of Transportation regarding closing Hunters Branch Road for an upcoming state project that will make improvements on the road turnoff.
According to County Commissioner Rusty Orick who got some information on the project, it will be over $3 million paid for by the state and is part of the ongoing Hunter Branch Realignment.
It includes a deceleration lane, a red light and other work at the intersection and will help the traffic, according to Commissioner Orick, who said he had also spoken with Road Superintendent Ron Dilbeck who said it would help the area.

The agreement with TDOT states that the contractor will notify the county at least 14 days before the closure and that TDOT will maintain and install all the necessary detour signs needed for the temporary closure.
Also approved on Monday was for the Surplus of two F350 s which will be transferred from the EMS to the sanitation department.
The 2026-2027 grant contract agreement between the state and the Campbell County Health Department was approved, as was the application for a litter grant.
The commission meeting was recessed until Thursday, June 25, at 6 pm, to finish up the year-end budget amendments. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-06/16/2026-6AM)
