Raymond Guy Vangelder Jr., age 80 of Wenatchee, Washington, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at LaFollette Medical Center. He was born on October 4, 1945, to the late Raymond Vangelder Sr. and Lily McCarver Vangelder. Raymond spent his early years in Cashmere, WA on a small family farm, then in 1950 his family moved to Leavenworth, WA. He was a very smart young man who learned his ethics at a very young age. Raymond enlisted in the United States Navy, where he did his basic training in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and served during the Vietnam War, he then received his honorable discharge in 1967. Raymond furthered his education by receiving a bachelor’s in science and a master’s in political science. Raymond worked for 46 years, and 27 of those years he was a safe way driver and received many awards for safe driving. He also enjoyed long drives, being with friends and family, enjoyed Jesus, and discussing politics. He was also member of Teamsters Union of Sons of Norway, a member of Chapter 917 in Auburn, and a member of Lodge 205.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved son Ray Guy “Buddy” Vangelder lll; brothers Ronald and Joe Vangelder; and several other family members.

Left on to carry Raymonds memory is his beloved siblings Nancy Lou Owens and Tom Vangelder; friends and roommates George Chinn and Dolph Hubert “Ted” Swanson; and several nephews, friends, and relatives.
