Clifford Cooper, age 98, of LaFollette passed away Thursday, August 28, 2025. He was born the late John and Cordie Sue Richardson Cooper. Preceded in death by Sisters: Oretha Cox and Geneva Hunley, Brother: J.E. Cooper, Son-in-Law: Dana Lynn Smith. He was long-time member of Long Hollow Baptist Church. He retired from LaFollette Street Department in 1985, where he was a heavy equipment operator and superintendent after 35 years of service. He was a 70 year member of Jacksboro Masonic Lodge #322 and active in the Kerbela Shriners. He loved working in his garage working on old cars. He had a zeal for life and enjoyed people. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.

Wife of 75 years Ruth Ward Cooper

Daughter: Alma Sue Smith

Grandson: Todd Smith

Great-Granddaughters: Martina and Madison Smith

Several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank UT Hospice and special neighbor and friend Martha.

The family will receive friends from 5-6:45 PM with Masonic Service 6:45 pm Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Cross-Smith Funeral Home with Funeral Service to follow in Cross-Smith Chapel, Rev. George Asbury Officiating. Family and friends will meet at 9:15 AM, Sunday, at Cross-Smith Funeral Home and proceed to Campbell Memorial Gardens for 10 AM Interment.

  1. Sorry to hear about Clifford’s passing. From the very first time I met him at People’s Bank, I was impressed with his smile and friendship we share with each other. When we met at Charley’s over the years it was the same. I am going to miss his smile and friendship we had during those days. Our Prayers are with you!
