A resolution establishing “guidelines regarding the appropriation of contributions by the County Commission for needs that arise throughout the year†was approved.
The resolution states that the fiscal year (FY) 2024-2025 budget contains $45,000 for non-specific contributions at the discretion of the county commissioners, and that the “allocation of the funds will enable the county to contribute to matters that arise throughout the year without having to find additional funding sources.â€
The resolution split the $45,000 allocation 16 ways with each county commissioner and the county mayor being allocated $2,812.50 to make funding recommendations to the county commission. The resolution also states that “All contributions require the approval of the county commission prior to the contribution being made.â€

In other business, a lease agreement for LaFollette Middle School to upgrade two copiers was approved. Also approved was the acceptance of the resignation of fifth district constable Gary Jeffers who submitted a letter of stating that he had accepted a job with Homeland Security and that the job would conflict with his duties as constable.
