Board of Education to discuss status of its attorney in special called meeting

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- The Board of Education holds a special called meeting this afternoon, Monday, November 25, 2024. The meeting starts at 5pm in the upper courtroom of the courthouse. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss and take any necessary action regarding the Campbell County Board of Education attorney, Chris McCarty.

Campbell County Board of Education Attorney Chris McCarty.

The BOE held a special called meeting last December to discuss hiring a new attorney after longtime BOE attorney Dail Cantrell announced he was stepping down due to health reasons. That’s when the BOE hired McCarty.

In the lower level courtroom, the county commission’s legislative affairs committee meets Tuesday at 5pm, followed by the waterline committee at 5:30pm.

Members of the Campbell Outdoor Recreation Association (CORA) will meet on Tuesday at 7pm.

CORA drafted a response letter to the TWRA’s fee increase proposal and sent it on to TWRA last Monday (Nov. 18). CORA is asking the TWRA to consider a more “middle stream proposal” that put a resident annual permit at $100, not $200 and puts nonresident at $250, rather than $500” which the agency is proposing.

CORA also suggested the agency add a 7-day permit option, a youth permit option, among other suggestions.
