The annual event takes place at Jellico Veteran’s Park

JELLICO, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF)- The Jellico Honor Guard Veterans Day event will be this Monday, Nov 11, at 1 pm, at the Jellico Veteran’s Park.

Jellico Honor Guard will perform:

1. National Anthem 

2, Service Flags / Songs with POW flag

3.  21 Gun Salute and Taps

4. US Flag Folding  presentation with explaination of 13 folds.  

5. Special speaker this year will be hometown Army Veteran Dr. Dr. James Prewitt.

Professor Emeritus Dr. James Prewitt is a native of Jellico and returned after 35 years. He left the area after joining the US Army and being assigned to Heidelberg, Germany. Two of his proudest achievements were obtained while in the Army: earning the Expert Field Medical Badge and Air Assault wings. While a Soldier in Heidelberg he studied Economics at the Universität of Heidelberg.

James is a career academic who has taught for universities in China, Germany, and in the US from Hawaii to Pennsylvania. He retired as a doctoral professor in Strategy and Planning from a joint appointment at Frei Universität Berlin and Humboldt Universität zu Berlin. He has also been a consultant to Fortune 100 companies in Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, France, Switzerland, and Germany. James was the founder and director of both the Santa Fe (New Mexico) Business Incubator and the New Mexico Technology Incubator. James was a board member on both the Los Alamos and Sandia National Labs Technology Commercialization Offices.

Dr. Prewitt has published more than 125 peer-reviewed academic journal articles, 31 book chapters, and co-authored two textbooks. He is the recipient of numerous Research Professor of the Year, Teaching Professor of the Year, and Professor of the Year honors. James also received many best paper and best presentation awards at academic conferences across the globe. James’ degrees include a Doctorate in Business Administration and a Doctorate in Advanced Mathematical Modeling.

He is happily married to Colonel (Ret, US Army) Dr. Daphany L. Prewitt. They live in Jellico with his mother, Sue Brown, and the most important family member, Bella, a 5 year old Yorkshire Terrier.
