LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – The fun of Casey Kasem’s American Top 40 The 70s trips back to August 14, 1976, Saturday at 7 pm over WLAF radio. The three hours of memories are brought to you by Maynard’s Auto Parts and State Representative Dennis Powers.
Elton John was one of the hottest artists of the day, and on Don’t Go Breaking My Heart, he teamed with Kiki Dee while Walter Murphy had a most unique hit with A Fifth of Beethoven along with his the Big Apple Band. TV and movie star Keith Carradine had a one hit wonder with I’m Easy. Hall and Oates had the fastest moving song on the chart with She’s Gone, a song the duo released in 1974 only climbing to number 60. In addition to these songs, you’ll hear the nation’s other top 36 songs over WLAF just like they all played here on the old radio station in 1976.
