LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Future new billboards are on pace to be prohibited in the City of LaFollette. Yesterday afternoon the LaFollette City Council had a first reading of Ordinance 2024-05.
The ordinance states that a billboard is defined as an outdoor advertising sign that’s either attached to or supported by a building or structure, or erected on the ground, and has a display surface of more than 100 square feet. Ordinance 2024-03 amending the City of LaFollette Personnel Policy regarding bereavement had a final reading, and Ordinance 2024-04 approving the 2024-25 budget had a first reading. Resolution 2024-08 setting the certified tax rate at .8687 was approved.
The council approved purchasing a 25-ton construction trailer for Public Works from Ridgeline Inc for $44,545, it will take approximately two months for the trailer to be built and delivered. The council appointed Laura Byrge, Market Leader for Builtwell Bank, to take Boyd Henegar’s seat as a LaFollette Utility Board member, Henegar is leaving after serving two terms.
Two event permits were approved beginning with Coolidge Ridge Missionary Baptist Church for prayer meetings in the parking lot behind city hall for the month of June on Thursday night and an event permit for N. Marie Ayers to host three political rallies.
A beer permit was approved for the Quick Shop at 1708 East Central Avenue. The store has had a manager change and a new permit must be issued when the manager changes. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 06/05/2024-6AM)
