Cougars left still searching for first win against Wildcats since 1999

OAK RIDGE, TN (WLAF) – Your Campbell County Cougars, following a loss to Powell on Thursday, headed to Oak Ridge to tussle the Wildcats. Campbell would be looking for their first win against Oak Ridge in 53 tries..

Campbell kept it close early, as following a Luke Browning bucket, the Cougars trailed Oak Ridge 10-7. Seven points would be all the offense the Cougars would muster in the first quarter, as the Orange-and-Blue trailed the Wildcats at the end of the opening quarter by a score of 16-7.

Jake Hatmaker and Gavin Cox were the suppliers of offense in the first minute of the second, as Campbell slashed the Wildcat lead back down to five, 16-11. This is the point in the game, much like the Lady Cougars’ contest, where the wheels fell off. Oak Ridge proceeded to outscore Campbell from this point until halftime 27-6. At the break, the Cougars trailed the Wildcats 43-17.

In the second half, Oak Ridge never let Campbell even think of a comeback. The Cougars left Oak Ridge with a 77-37 loss.

Luke Browning, your Local Realtor Gage Dople Player of the Game, led Campbell once again in scoring with nine points. Gavin Cox contributed eight points. Keegan Nelson, Jake Hatmaker, and Will Croley all scored five points apiece. Cole Miller and Dylan Ford finished with two points apiece, and Jordan Day had one point. Brady Hatmaker, Tyler Kitts, and Logan Day all played but did not score.
