LAFOLLETTE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – The honoring of our nations veterans is very important, and Cedar Hill Baptist Church knows it! Cedar Hill would love to acknowledge the presence of the veterans in their congregation.

On Sunday morning, the service was opened by the Presentation of the Colors by Cedar Hill’s own Boy Scout Troop 310 and Cub Scout Pack 108 followed by a Veterans prayer presentation on the big screens.

Early into the service, Pastor Bryan Burge wanted to honor the veterans in attendance and asked them to stand and be recognized for their service to the United States. Several veterans stood from various times of war and peace. These men and women received a standing ovation from the congregation and saluted from the Scouts in attendance. Following the recognition of their service, the veterans were asked for the number of years they served. As they stated the years they served, Veterans Tom Peck and Bill Pyle stood and stated that they served 33 and 26 years respectively. This dedication to our nation’s protection is something that our whole community should know about and applaud!

As the service concluded, the congregation was urged to make their way to the flagpole outside for the hoisting of a brand-new American Flag. Veteran Jimmy Davis was given the honor, as the oldest veteran in the congregation, of raising the American Flag that was provided by a member of the congregation and presented by Troop 310 and Pack 108.
