JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – The Campbell County High School Career Technology Education (CTE) Welding program was recognized by the Campbell County Board of Education on Tuesday evening.

Last week, the CCHS welding program “swept” the TCAT Welding Rodeo TIG (Tungsten Inert gas) Competition at Knoxville. 

The three seniors who won were Eli Whaley, third place, Landon Lowe, second place and Eli Riggs, first place. 

The welding program is under the direction of Welding Instructor Chris Ralston. 

Ralston and Whaley were present at Tuesday’s meeting to briefly address the school board about the event.

The winners received upwards of $5,000 in supplies combined for their achievements.

The competition was held Friday,  Nov. 3, and CCHS students competed against 300 to 400 other students. 

Ralston said he was proud of his students and how much they had learned so quickly. 

“Congratulations to you and what you’ve accomplished, ” BOE Chairman Steve Morgan said.
