TOP PHOTO: At 6:30pm Tuesday, the paver closed the joint at the DeRoyal entrance. Now this section has two east and west bound lanes. The turn lane and the west bound shoulder are completed.  Wednesday’s work will start on the east bound shoulder. East bound traffic will be shifted to the inside lane while work is being done to the east bound shoulder.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – More fresh pavement and new striping greet travelers today from La Follette Middle School east on Highway 63, the General Carl Stiner Highway. WLAF’s Charlie Hutson takes us through the project.

The rush was on Tuesday evening to complete the center turn lane on the Hwy 63 project. The crew at Sharp’s Ridge Road headed to the joint at the DeRoyal entrance.

Just after dark and working under the lights the last truck load of hot mix was backed up to the hopper and dumped to finish the last section.

As soon as the paving crew moved out of the way, the paint crew began to lay down the lines for the new traffic pattern.

The paver is finishing the 20 feet to the joint, ready to blend the new to the old pavement.
