LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – LaFollette Police Officer Jesse Ferguson was on patrol on Sept. 20 when he saw a 2001 red Ford Focus traveling eastbound on the four-lane. The officer noticed that the registration on the vehicle could not be read due to the tag lights not working. Ferguson stopped and made contact with the driver, identified as Adam Michael Barton.

Officer Ferguson asked Barton for his drivers license, and he could not find it according to a report from the LaFollette Police Department. Ferguson was able to confirm through dispatch that Barton’s driver’s license was suspended, and the insurance on the car was unconfirmed.

Barton was asked by the officer to step out of the vehicle, and Officer Ferguson patted him down for weapons and placed him under arrest. A search of the vehicle revealed a digital scale under the driver’s seat with white residue. Two additional scales were found in the center console and an empty cigarette wrapper with white residue believed to be Methamphetamine was found in the glovebox.

Barton, 32, 319 Butter and Egg Road, Jacksboro was charged with driving on revoked/suspended, violation of TN financial law, light law and possession of drug paraphernalia. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 09/28/2023-6AM)
