LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – A man who has been in and out of the county jail is back behind bars in the Campbell County Jail this morning. After allegedly causing an unprovoked disturbance in the parking lot of JR’s Tires on Monday afternoon, Billy Joe Randolph was arrested by La Follette Police Officer Anthony Mahar.

A person close to the incident told WLAF News Randolph wandered onto the property of JR’s Tires at 811 Jacksboro Pike and confronted an employee for no apparent reason. The employee, not knowing Randolph, picked up a metal pipe trying to force Randolph to leave. Two other employees stepped up encouraging Randolph to just go away.

The victim held the pipe in his hand as he backed up telling Randolph to leave or he was going to hit him. Randolph allegedly yelled back telling the employee to hit him, according to the report.

The witness said Randolph took off his shirt and continued to make threats. A delivery driver, watching the event unfold, called 911.

Upon arrival, LaFollette Police Officer Tony Mahar jumped out of his cruiser, ran toward Randolph and tackled him. Mahar then cuffed the shirtless Randolph and transported him to jail.

Randolph, 44, of La Follette has a $4,500 secure bond and is due in court on Tuesday. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 09/28/2023-6AM)
