LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – There’s a new place to play in Campbell County; the Little Playhouse inside Woodson’s Mall!

The indoor play area opened last Saturday and is owned and operated by Shaneil Ayers, who is also a school resource officer.

It is an indoor play area focused towards kids aged six and under for “imagination play.”

“Our space gives a safe space for children to use their imaginations. Here, parents don’t have to worry about who is watching their child. Parents don’t have to worry about harmful items left behind by careless people. Their children are safe playing here. Our space allows parents to relax a little and play with their child in a way that a typical playground can’t. I’ve got big dreams for this space for the kiddos in our community,” Ayers said.

She got the idea after seeing this type of play place set up in other areas and with a young child of her own, she said she knew the challenges of taking younger kids to playgrounds or on bad weather days.

The Little Playhouse is also available for private parties.

“I will promise that this place is somewhere I would take my child to play, and we will treat you and your kiddos like you’re family while you’re here with us. My goal is to provide a safe, fun space for the younger kids who visit,” Ayers said.

The space can also be rented for private birthday parties, which is $150 for three hours.

Regular admission for children is $12 for the first child, $10 for each additional sibling (sibling must be of the same household as first paying child, no exceptions). Sales tax will be added to the total cost.

According to Ayers, “Children six months and under will be free. Parents will also be free. Children 12 and older will not be charged admission if they do not plan to play – we will consider them “helpers” of the smaller children, but they will count toward the two parent per child limit. If a child 12-17 wishes to play, they must pay admission. Please limit parents to no more than 2 per child. Pre-packaged snacks and drinks will be available for purchase. Outside food and drinks are welcome, but they will not be allowed in the play area. This includes sippy cups and bottles.”

The Little Playhouse is also planning a Halloween event on Oct. 21 for $20 per child. The event is limited to 15 children with only five spots left. Check out Facebook for more information or to pre-purchase tickets for this event.

The Little Playhouse will be holding a Halloween event on October 21st. Spots are limited.

As of right now, planned hours of operation for The Little Playhouse will be as follows:

Tuesday and Thursday 10am – 2pm

Saturday 10am – 3pm

These hours may change from week to week due to being closed to the public for private parties. It is recommended to check out the Little Playhouse Facebook page for updates.

Until a business phone is hooked up, message The Little Playhouse on Facebook for more information or to book private parties.
