A gallon of gas at Lyons’ Truck Stop was 29.9-cents in the late 1950s.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Long before there was a superstore with a gasoline station on its property, there was Walt Lyons with his gigantic Lyons Trading Center, and next door was his gasoline station. His operation took up the entire 500 block of West Central Avenue from 11th Street to 13th Street.

Lyons’ Truck Stop was located next to Lyon’s Trading Center, and both were owned by Walt Lyons.  The picture above is from the late 1950s. Notice the 29.9 cents a gallon gas prices and one of the signs hanging on the fence says motor oil 15-cents a quart or 59-cents a gallon. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 06/30/2022-6AM)

    1. Thank you for your response, Rick.

The location is at the corner of Central and 11th directly across from Riggs Drug.
