Here’s how the first block of West Central Avenue looked nearly 50 years ago.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – This is a look back at what once occupied a section of West Central Avenue before the Goodyear fire in 1976. These buildings were on the west end of the block opposite the block from where First National Bank burned in December 1971.

Shortly after the Goodyear fire, these buildings were razed and the new FNB was built, today the Community Trust Bank building.

The above image from 1975 is now the Community Trust Bank ATM and parking lot for the bank.  WLAF’s Charlie Hutson shares details on the Throwback Thursday further down this page. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 02/24/2022-6AM-PHOTO COURTESY OF WLAF’S CHARLIE HUTSON)

  1. That pickup was my grandfather’s Albert Overbay. He was at the bank. But I think it was 1st National Bank that he was at. We still have his pickup. The camper was purchased around 1971 from the camper company that was located in Duff.
