JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – “This game with Kingston sorta fell into our laps. We needed a home game on Week 6, and they needed an away game the same Friday,” said Campbell Defensive Coordinator and Athletic Director Matt Price.

The Price Twins have known Kingston Coach Brian Pankey for years and have always talked about playing, but it just never worked out until this year. Region realignments drove both teams to search for additional non-region opponents; five games to fill for CCHS and six for Kingston. “We’ve had a great relationship with Coach Pankey and have coached some all-star games with him. Even our middle schools play each other. We’d always said if we ever get a chance to play, let’s play,” said Price.

Price calls Kingston a tradition-rich program, and rightfully so. The Yellow Jackets have been to the post season 32 times holding a 32-31 won-loss mark in the post season which includes four state title runner-ups and the 1973 AA Tennessee State Football Championship.

“You can tell its tradition-rich with all the former players now on their coaching staff. They know how to win and have a lot of success,” said Price. He points out that even though Kingston is a smaller school (enrollment of 700 vs. 1,300 at CCHS), it is a very talented team.

Kingston is 5 & 0, state ranked and has only allowed 15 points so far. Campbell lost for the first time a week ago and is 4 & 1.

“We’ve never played before. So it’ll be kinda different and neat for both programs. It’s two great communities that love football and support their student/athletes a lot,” said Price. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 09/24/2021-6AM)
