NEWCOMB, TN (WLAF) – Walking down the road ended with a trip to jail for a Pioneer man. Last Friday, Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy Christopher West was on Hwy 297 in Newcomb when he noticed a man walking up the side of the road.

West stopped and spoke with the man who revealed himself to be Richard Lee Johnson. West ran a warrant check on the man, and the check yielded no warrants for Johnson. At this point, West asked the man if he had anything illegal in his possession, according to a report from the sheriff’s department.

Johnson allegedly then showed West he had a green box containing several needles, containers and a clear bag with a crystal-like substance inside.
