LAFOLLETTE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – A joint investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the La Follette Police Department and the 8th Judicial District Drug Task Force has resulted in the indictment of a Jacksboro man on murder charges in connection to an overdose death.

On December 4, 2020, special agents with the TBI Drug Investigation Division joined investigators with the LPD and the DTF in investigating the death of 34-year old William Kent Blackwell. He was found deceased in a La Follette restaurant from a drug overdose, with fentanyl determined as a contributing factor. The investigation revealed that John Michael Storey, 31, was the individual responsible for distributing the drugs to the victim.

On Wednesday, the Campbell County Grand Jury returned indictments charging Storey with one count of Second Degree Murder, one count of Sale of a Schedule II Controlled Substance and one count of Delivery of a Schedule II Controlled Substance.

On Thursday, Storey was arrested and booked into the Campbell County Jail on a $250,000 bond. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 04/15/2021-4PM)

  1. I do not understand, Are all drug dealers that sell drugs to someone and they OD on those drugs, are the drug dealers charged with murder of some degree ? Did the drug dealer make the guy take the drugs ? I am just trying to understand, Believe me I AM NOT FOR DRUG DEALERS, There has to be more to this story. If a person can be arrested for selling drugs to someone and they OD on the drugs then , If a bartender sells liquor to someone and they drink and hit someone and kill them is the bartender at fault. If a gun dealer sells someone a gun and the person kills with that gun is the gun dealer going to be charged with murder. Just trying to understand this. Thanks for letting me comment. God bless.
