It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing our beloved Makayla.

Makayla Sky Cutcher was greeted by Jesus as she slept in her bed on March 5, 2021.

Makayla was born on May 6, 2004 to parents Christopher Cutcher and Ashley Evans, in Morristown, TN.

Makayla was born with a congenital heart defect and had to endure surgeries and face many challenges during her short life, but with a resilience and fortitude that inspired all who knew of her story. Even behind all the visible scars she maintained an attitude of gratitude and never let anything hinder her spirit. She grew up in church and gave her heart to Jesus when she was a little girl. She was always braver than her cousins and would get up in front of everyone at church and sing solo. The ladies in the church would roll their eyes at her every time she shouted out “PAGE 10!” Her favorite song was on page 10 in the red hymnal. “In the sweet, sweet bye and bye” we know our Makayla had a meeting in the air.

She was 16 years old and a junior at Cumberland Gap High School. She touched the lives of so many in her short time here on earth. She was a spunky, shining, happy girl that everyone craved more of. She was joy personified. She had an energy that with even just one encounter with her, you would remember her for life. Whether it was about how absolutely beautiful, insanely funny, or just downright ridiculous she was, she left her mark.

Makayla loved all things outdoors. Summer and sunshine went right along with her personality. She loved being on the lake with her family, 4-wheeling, and she adored animals, especially her dog Remi! Most importantly, Makayla had a deep love for her friends and family and cherished the time they would spend together. Makayla loved so many and was loved by so many more. She will continue to stay with us all through memories, and the laughs she forced us all to endure whether we were in the mood for it or not.

Makayla leaves behind her mother Ashley Evans and her father Christopher and Lori Cutcher. She is also survived by her siblings Logan and Morgan Evans and stepsiblings: Cody and Alex Johnson.

Makayla loved her cousins something fierce and they loved her equally. They now have one of the sweetest guardian angles to ever enter heaven. Cherished cousins: MacKinzey Cutcher; Kylie and Kaden Cutcher; Brooklyn, Caitlyn, George, and Jacob Smith; Tyler Evans. Makayla also leaves behind a very special friend, Zach Giles.

Makayla will be sorrowfully missed by all who knew her, especially her Mamaw and Papaw Cutcher and her Mamaw and Papaw Jack. Treasured niece of Tommy and Christina Cutcher, Chad and Misty “Peeme” Tinnel, Mollie Evans, and Junior Evans. When Makayla was a toddler, she began calling her aunt Misty “Pee-me” because she couldn’t pronounce Misty and the name stuck. Makayla had a way of putting her own special twist on everything she said and did. Her uniqueness couldn’t be disguised.

Makayla joined some special angels in heaven when she left us; her Nana Jane, her uncle Toby Evans, her baby cousin Gavin Tinnel, and her angel baby sibling that she now gets to meet.

Every single time Makayla went somewhere with her dad she would loudly shout, “I call shot gun!”

Makayla called shot gun one last time when she met Jesus in the sky for her final ride. Until we meet again sweet girl!

Matthew 19:14

But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”
