Assault call leads to arrest of fugitive

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – A fugitive from justice out of Florida was arrested in Campbell County on Friday.

Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy Jason Shears was initially investigating the call of a possible assault at 226 Thacker Drive when he encountered 50-year- old Christopher Thomas Hughes. Central dispatch alerted Shears that Hughes had an active warrant with extradition from St. Lucie County, Florida.

Hughes was placed under arrest and transported to the Campbell County Jail at Jacksboro. He remains housed at the county jail this morning awaiting extradition to Fort Pierce, Florida. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 02/23/2021-6AM)
