LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputies put the pieces of a puzzle together last Tuesday following the report of a wrecked SUV that had been abandoned and the call of an alleged intoxicated patient at the hospital.

Deputy Jeff Allen was dispatched to the wreck on East Chapman Road where he located a green Nissan SUV. Based on the report, the SUV had hit a tree and was abandoned. One source close to the case told WLAF News that the Nissan was “torn all to pieces and struck the tree so hard that it broke the back window.”

Dispatched to the La Follette Medical Center was Deputy Joseph Weaver to investigate a man who was said to have been involved in a car wreck and appeared intoxicated. Nurses told Weaver that the patient, Kevin Halcomb, told them “he’d been in a wreck and had consumed three Bahama Mamas and a couple of beers and that a car ran him off the road.”

The 30-year- old Halcomb agreed to a blood draw though he refused to answer any questions, according to the report.

Halcomb was charged with DUI (driving under the influence), driver’s failure to exercise due care and leaving the scene of an accident. He has court date set for April. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 02/23/2021-6AM)
