JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – In less than five minutes, the Jacksboro Board of Mayor and Aldermen completed its monthly meeting on Thursday night.

There was a full house at the meeting with several police chief candidates present, but hiring was not on the agenda. The deadline for applications was last week.  Applicants Cody Chapman, Aaron Evans, Jeremy Goins and Cindy Smith, the wife of applicant Daniel Smith, attended.

Mayor June Forstner shared with the board the Campbell County Highway Department has loaned them it’s brush truck while repairs are being done on the town’s. She has also been in contact with the City of LaFollette in attempt to borrow the leaf vacuum they have, since the Jacksboro’s is not operational.

Forstner made a motion to raise the starting pay for police officers to $13.50 an hour.  The motion passed. The next item for the police department was hiring Jacob Jones at $13.50 an hour.

The Beer Board met prior to the start of the regular meeting.  All annual beer permits were approved. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 12/13/2019-6AM)
