With a DUI charge pending, Mendy Roberts is facing another DUI charge

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- The call of a wreck with possible injury was investigated by La Follette Police Officer Aidyn Fudala late Tuesday night on South Avenue.

Officer Fudala arrived on scene, just above Gamble Motors, at 10:02pm, to find a white Chevrolet Tahoe with front-end damage. Also outlined in Fudala’s police report was that the Chevy and the house at 410 South Avenue, the former Coach Ron Murray home, sustained substantial damage.

The SUV was found unoccupied with a male, female (Mendy Roberts) and juvenile standing around the vehicle. The officer asked the man if anyone was injured and who was driving, and he said no one was injured and that Mendy Roberts was behind the wheel. During this conversation, Roberts began walking down the driveway of 412 South Avenue, later learned was her home, next to the home that was wrecked into.

Roberts was called back to the scene by Fudala. When asked, Roberts could not provide the officer with her driver’s license.

As soon as the patrolman was near Roberts, it became immediately apparent that Roberts was under the influence. She had slurred speech, glassy/watery eyes and emitting a strong odor of alcohol on her breath, according to the police report. Also stated in the report was that Roberts had a half empty bottle of vodka sticking out of her purse.

Roberts allegedly told Officer Fudala that she had consumed an alcoholic beverage earlier in the evening. Roberts consented to a field sobriety test and then was read her Miranda rights. Due to Roberts perceived level of intoxication, she was again asked about the test, and she refused.

The man with Roberts, said to be her fiancé, shared with police that she is currently out on bond for a pending DUI charge.

Roberts, 42, of 412 South Avenue- La Follette, was charged with DUI, violation of the implied consent law, failure to exercise due care and driving with license suspended/cancelled/revoked.
