Mr. William Franklin “Dub” Ayers, age 86 of the Stinking Creek Community passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2025. He was a member of Rock Creek Church of God. Dub was a long-time coal miner, heavy equipment operator, truck driver, loved to work in the garden, and for many years enjoyed cutting and selling firewood. He is preceded in death by parents, Rob and Lizzy (McCullah) Ayers, brother, Rev. George Andrew Ayers, sister, Marie “Reecie” Ridenour, and two infant sisters, Essie and Mary Lou Ayers.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Mrs. June (Bolton) Ayers; daughter, Tammy Asbury and husband, Kyle; son, Bryant Ayers; Grandchildren, Stephanie Moncrief and husband, Drew, Zachary Asbury and wife, Danielle, Chris Asbury, and Isaac Walter Asbury; great-grandchildren, Cannon, Nora, and Jaxson; brothers, Charles Ayers and wife, Linda, and Eddie Ayers and wife, Jessie; sisters, Dessie Smiddy, Ann Colvin and husband, Bob, Ester Caldwell and husband, Wayne, and Leona Brinker; special caretaker and neighbor, Travis Phoenix; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Walters Funeral Home Chapel. Family and friends will meet on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, 12:00 PM at Walters Home and proceed to Stanfield Church of God for 1:00 PM funeral services with Bishop Delmus Bruce and Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Graveside Services and Interment will follow at Hall Cemetery with Bro. Don England officiating.
