JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- It was a chilly, Tuesday afternoon at the Campbell County High School soccer field where the Cougar soccer team hosted Union County.
The first forty minutes were slow paced, with the Cougars keeping the ball on their side of the field, but not putting it through the goal. However, Lucas McKamey ended the scoreless drought with his first goal on the varsity team.
The Cougars led at the end of the first half 1-0.
Campbell picked up the intensity in the second half. Braiden Ivey worked the ball past the Union County goalkeeper to give the Orange-and-Blue a 2-0 lead.
Johann Vanhalle would be the driving force of the Cougar offense on Tuesday, scoring not one, not two, but three goals, accomplishing the hat trick. The last goal of which was assisted by Kainoa Morton.
On the opposite side of the field, Mac Fritts, Paxton Wormsley, and Carlos Espeña played lock down defense. Also, Nathan Massengill, the Cougar goalie, prevented every shot from getting to the back of the net.
Campbell is now 4-3-1 on the season with Knox Central, a district squad, up next at Fountain City on Thursday. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-04/09/2025-6AM)
