Company shares information about speed enforcement cameras
JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- On Thursday afternoon, the Jacksboro Board of Mayor and Aldermen met for the monthly meeting.
Blue Line Solutions/Photo Speed Enforcement was present to give a presentation on their speed enforcement cameras. Mayor Shayne Green told the representatives he would have the town’s judge and attorney look at the cameras before they move forward.
The police department had several other items on the agenda, beginning with accepting the resignation of Assistant Police Chief Carl Mozingo effective Sept. 30. Two officers were hired, beginning with Jackie Heatherly as an auxiliary officer then hiring James McCall as a full time officer. Mcall will be paid $17/hr. for his first 90 days then be raised to $19/hr. Current Police Officer Gulliver received a pay raise to $20/hr.
In fire department business, the board approved for Fire Chief Jason Shetterly to attend EMT training. The purchase of three air packs was approved as well as purchasing tires for two fire trucks for approximately $6,000 was also approved. Fire Prevention Materials at a cost of $1,540 was approved for school programs.
Ordinance #135 had a first reading adopting the 2018 International Building Codes. Ordinance #134 was approved; the ordinance changes the amount of items that can be purchased without a bid to $10,000. The new amount will require three quotes before a purchase can be made.
Teague Lane is having issues with surface water; the board approved having Caryville Jacksboro Utilities assess the issue. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 09/11/2024-6AM)
