Life of Campbell County teen lost

The scene surrounding Thursday’s fatal accident near the entrance to Cove Lake State Park.

CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF)- A young woman from Caryville, 19-year-old Jasmine Graham, died from injuries sustained in a three vehicle wreck. The accident happened right at 4:30 last Thursday afternoon at the entrance to Cove Lake State Park at Veterans Memorial Highway.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol investigated, and in its preliminary report, it is stated that Graham exited Cove Lake Lane driving a 2022 Buick Enclave. She was attempting to cross the intersection of the four lane (Veterans Memorial Highway). A second vehicle, a 2021 Mack Straight Truck, was driven by 47-year-old David Smith. The truck, a county sanitation vehicle, was headed south when it struck the Buick in a broadside manner after the Buick failed to yield the right of way, based on the THP report.

After contact with the Mack Truck, the Buick crossed the grass median and struck a 2021 Dodge Ram 2500 that was traveling in a north bound lane of Veterans Memorial Highway. Cory Potts, 18, was behind the wheel of the Dodge.

Neither Smith nor Potts was injured.
