Campbell’s ready to play its oldest rival, Karns, on the Beavers home field. It’s the 46th meeting.

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- “We’ve had a good week of practice and weather,” said Campbell Head Football Coach Mark Pemberton. The veteran though first-year coach and his Cougars venture to West Knoxville tonight to face the Karns Beavers. Both teams are 2 & 5.
“It’s another chance. We try to wipe the last one (game) out of our minds, whether you win or lose, and you go on to the next one,” said Pemberton. The Cougars good week of practice wrapped up on a good note on Thursday, according to Pemberton. Kick-off for this Region 3 5-A game is 7pm.
“This is a playoff game basically. You win and you’re probably in (the playoffs) or you lose and go home more than likely,” said Pemberton. Campbell is 0 & 2 in region games while Karns is 0 & 1.
Coach Pemberton extends a personal invitation for fans to travel over to Karns. “We need all the help we can get. These guys are working hard. Let’s stay positive and support them, and let’s got get a win,” said Pemberton.
Karns closes it season with Clinton and at Lenoir City while Campbell returns home October 25 for the first time in a month and will host East of Morristown followed by visiting Oak Ridge to round out the regular seasons.
Friday’s match-up marks the 46th meeting dating back to 1977, a 7-0 Karns win. Campbell won 49-14 a season ago on Reynolds Field. The Beavers hold a 26-19 edge in the series. The 19 wins are the most wins the Cougars have over a single opponent.
