‘He hit .400 this year against a tough schedule’- Campbell County High Head Baseball Coach Adam Ellison

Rylan Rice signs to play for Union Commonwealth University

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Rylan Rice’s hard work is paying dividends for the Campbell Senior. On Tuesday morning, he traded his Orange-n-Blue for Union Orange-n-Black.

“Really proud of him. I believe he will make the most of it.” said Rice’s high school coach Adam Ellison.

The Cougar Baseball Family came out for Rylan on Tuesday at Brown Gym.

Rice committed to play for the school located at Barbourville, Kentucky, a good hour north of Campbell County. The Bulldogs play baseball in the AAC, the Appalachian Athletic Conference.

Rylan Rice wears his new orange and white colors quite well.

“He hit .400 this year, and to go through our schedule with our district and still get that high of an average really shows the talent he has. He will help Union, and he may help them sooner than people think,” said Ellison.

Campbell County High School Baseball has had back-to-back years with a college signee also shows Campbell Baseball closing the gap a little, according to Ellison. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-05/13/2026-6AM-PHOTOS COURTESY OF WLAF’S JOSH PARKER)
