Career military man attends Friday’s Memorial Day ceremony

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- Air Force veteran Campbell Thames was among the attendees at Friday’s Campbell County Memorial Day Honor Guard Program held in the auditorium at La Follette City Hall.

Thames came out to honor the U.S. military personnel who died in service, in particular Campbell County military personnel. He was also there to support his daughter Addison who sang the National Anthem at the ceremony.

Addy Thames, daughter of Veteran Cambell Thames, sang the National Anthem.

When asked what this holiday means to him, emotionally, he said “It reminds me of what Dan (Spurlock, the featured speaker) was saying about how good we have it (in America). I wish we didn’t take it for granted.”

“Being here, with this event, reminds me how grateful I am to live here,” said Thames.

Campbell Thames career in the U-S Air Force spanned from the summer of 2002 until the fall of 2024. Born in Memphis, raised in Huntsville, Alabama, Thames was thrilled to return to the south after his retirement. Jacksboro is where he and his family make their home after his time in the Air Force.
