JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- County commissioners met Monday evening for a workshop to set the agenda for next week’s regular monthly meeting.  Surplus items, contract agreements and other business will be voted on next week.

First discussed by commissioners was a community corrections grant for the sheriff’s department which will be voted on next Monday.

Also on the agenda is the Highway Department surplus of a 1995 Ford Dump truck, a 1995 Ford ranger and back end loader.

A total of 14 tires, and six chairs will be declared dilapidated from the AT&T building.

Also to be voted on is an agreement between the county and East Tennessee Human Resources Agency (ETHRA). According to County Mayor Jack Lynch, this is an agreement the county renews with ETHRA each year.

An aging services grant agreement between the county and ETHRA will also be voted on next week.

In other business, County Mayor Jack Lynch announced the next Veteran’s Breakfast will be Sat., Aug. 1, 8am, at the First Baptist Church Jacksboro. It is sponsored by Builtwell Bank.

Lynch also said he would like for local cross country athlete Alex Padgett to be recognized next Monday by the county commission. 

The local chapter of Vietnam veterans will also be recognized by the commission the July 20 meeting. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-07/14/2026-6AM)
