Budget workshop is Tue., June 10, with a time yet to be set

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- On Tuesday afternoon, the LaFollette City Council met for the monthly meeting.

Several ordinances had a final reading beginning with Ordinance 2025-02 amending C2 Hwy Business District permitting retail package stores; Ordinance 2025-03 amending R-1 and R-2 residential districts prohibiting burial plots; Ordinance 2025-04 amending zoning C-1 and C-2 pertaining to storage facilities; Ordinance 2025-05 amending specific permitted street use for ATV’s updating permittable streets and Ordinance 2025-06 amending Title 8 of the City of LaFollette Municipal Code by establishing liquor regulations and amending beer regulations and Ordinance 2025-07 approving 2025-26 budget had a first reading.

Resolution 2025-12 amending the 2024-25 budget was approved.

The council approved to reallocate $131,800 from escrow funds for the balance of the purchase of a new brush truck.  Next the council approved the purchase of new brush truck from CMI Equipment for $231,800.

John Snodderly was reappointed to the LaFollette Utility Board. An event permit for Mystical Illusions Car Show on July 19 was approved.

The meeting was adjourned in session so the council could reconvene on Thu., June 26, at 5:30 pm, for the final approval of the 2025-26 budget. A budget workshop will be held on Tue., June 10, with a time yet to be set.
