Second THP Sobriety Checkpoint for July is the 24th at Caryville

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- The Tennessee Highway Patrol is conducting Sobriety Checkpoints around the region during the month of July, and a checkpoint is scheduled for Campbell County, namely Caryville, the evening of July 24, around dusk.

On Friday night, July 24, THP and other law enforcement units will stage on State Route 116 at Little Cove Creek Road just south of Caryville.

Troopers will concentrate their efforts on vehicles being operated by drivers who are driving impaired/driving under the influence in the State of Tennessee. The Tennessee Highway Patrol has found Sobriety Checkpoints to be an effective means of enforcing DUI laws of Tennessee while ensuring the protection of all motorists.

Impaired driving is a serious crime that kills more than 16,000 people and injures 305,000 others every year in the United States. Troopers will evaluate drivers for signs of alcohol or drug impairment. Troopers will target those who operate a vehicle while impaired and take corrective actions for other violations observed while ensuring the protection of all motorists.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol recognizes that sobriety checkpoints are highly visible and effective tools in the battle against impaired driving.
