Roy Dan Sutton age 84 of LaFollette, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024. He was born on December 6, 1939, to the late Solomon Sutton and Dovie (Miller) Sutton. Roy was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed gardening and restoring old cars. Roy retired from the United States Air Force as a E-6 with 20 plus years of service. He served his country proudly in Guam, Vietnam, Korea, Germany, and England. During his service he received the following military medals: Small Arms Efficiency (Marksman) Medals, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, AGCM, Air Force Longevity Service Award, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, RVN Campaign Medal, RVN Gallantry Cross, and the Air Force Commendation Medal.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Leamon, Henry, and Elmer Sutton; sisters Azalee Ford, Nancy Kauble, Katherine Sutton, Ethel Rettburg, and Lucille Sutton.
Roy is survived by his sister Minnie Goins and husband Wallace of LaFollette; brother Ralp Sutton of LaFollette, and several nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home (305 East Beech Street, LaFollette) with the funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Johnny Dabny officiating. Family and friends will meet at 9:15 AM on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Martin Wilson Funeral Home to go in funeral procession to Baker’s Forge Cemetery for an 10:00 AM interment.
